The Mid-Parental Formula

Also known as the Tanner Method, this is the gold standard for pediatricians estimating genetic height potential. It calculates the child’s height based on the average of the parents’ heights plus or minus 2.5 inches (6.5 centimeters) depending on the child's sex.
